Fall Skiing Just Around the Corner

The Days are Getting Shorter and This Signals That Fall Skiing is Just Around the Corner!

Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of sweltering days ahead.   The lakes are thinning out with school back in session and families head to school sporting events.  Yay! There are plusses and minusses with fall skiing.

Plusses.  Fewer boats on the lakes. Smoother water. Less wait at the slalom course. A good time to try new stuff. Fall tournaments kick off.  Listen to Titans and other football games from the ski coves.

Minusses.   Days are getting shorter.  Ski partners are getting scarce. Wife is a little testy. Glare is worse.  Did I mention that the days are getting shorter.

There are several great months ahead.  Have fun!

Tennessee Skiers Having a Great Nationals

     LATEST UPDATE 8/14/10

Team TN finishes the 2010 National Championships with 20 medals going home to TN.

     Kara MacIntyre finished 4th overall.

Aaron Curmi wins M1 Tricks with a score of 6520.

That brings Team TN to a total of 20 medals and 5 of them being GOLD! Congrats to all TEAM TN and a HUGE Thanks to Waters Edge for hosting an amazing Nationals.

To date, 19 Tennessee Skiers have racked up 18 NAtional Medals at the 2010 Goode Nationals being held at Water's Edge in Wilmington, Illinois.

The Mens 4 jump podium was a site to see.  John Carder was 1st, Tommy Newman 2nd, Steve Raybourne 4th and Greg Webb 5th. 4 out of 5 ain't too shabby and probably some kind of record.

Kirby Whetsel brought home the 3rd place medal in Mens 3 Jump with a 154' effort.  He was in a tie with Tony Knight of St. Louis, Mo. and won a 2 jump, sudden death jump off for 3 and 4.

Ham Wallace grabbed the top podium spot in Mens 5 with a 136' poke.

Tommy Newman also had a 5th in tricks and 2nd Overall. Greg Webb snagged a 4th Overall. Ham Wallace a 3rd Overall and Kirby Whetsel a 4th Overall.

Garrett Stallings made Tennessee proud with 1st Boys 1 Tricks, 3rd Boys 1 Slalom and 1st Boys 1 Overall.  His Dad, Ric Stallings took the 3rd Place medal in Men 3 Tricks. Congrats to the Stallings Boys!

Matt Curmi grabbed the 4th Place Medal in Men 2 Tricks, and Zane Nicholson snagged 2nd in Boys 3 Slalom.

On the female side of things, Kara MacIntyre has skied 1 event so far and place 3rd in Girls 3 Tricks.

Other Tennessee competitors are Charlsey Newman, Allie Nicholson, Chanah Carter, Tommy "Bull" Hendrix, Eddie Kirkland, Zach MacIntyre Aaron Curmi, and Paul Turner.

I'll update medal counts as results are posted.
